We are so happy to hear that the Ridgewood Reservoir may be saved thanks to the continued efforts of environmental activists. The Ridgewood Reservoir in Queens is an important water supply source that is one of the few remaining areas of wilderness in the NYC metropolitan area. Earlier this year the NYC Parks Department proposed to build breaches in the reservoir, building roads, and cut down numerous trees in the area. After protests and petition from local activists, as well as increasing support from government officials, NYC Park officials have decided to change their plans and protect the reservoir.
