iLANDing Scores

A score keeps an account of things in the world—a mark in the ground or a tree, a scratch or impression that notates a moment of observation and records it for future use. In music, the notation of a score allows a work to travel from place to place without the musician or composer. Improvisational dance uses the term to revisit systems and structures for generating research, performances and events. iLANDing scores are a record of interdisciplinary practice. They are the marks of past research in urban ecologies as well as invitations to activate and imagine future collaborations. As iLAND uses it, a score is an iterative strategy, a set of parameters that are repeatable but not necessarily structured to produce a predictable result, referencing frameworks of both improvisational dance and scientific experimentation.
