October 1, 2026 by admin Leave a Comment

We’re thrilled to share the schedule for iLAND’s 20th Anniversary Celebration, taking place October 10–18 across New York City.

For 20 years, iLAND has brought together dance, environmental practice, interdisciplinary research, and community through the development of iLANDing and the work of an extraordinary network of artists and collaborators.

To celebrate, we’re bringing people together for a week of performances, workshops, iLANDing activations, archival projects, walks, and gatherings that revisit iLAND’s history while creating space for new encounters.

Archival Activation with sTo Len and iki nakagawa

iki will facilitate an “edit session” where she invites an audience, one by one and by appointment, to scan through iLAND digital archive, make selections, and edit their choices into a work of their interest and desire.  The outcomes will be screened at the party at CAVE on October 17th.  Sessions may include chatting, moving from scores, vocalizing and drawing as ways to make selections.  Anyone is invited to witness and/or seep into the process during the session.  If you are interested in becoming an editor, please email editwith@ikinakagawa.com.

Multidisciplinary artist sTo Len will be creating a live collaborative score inspired by the iLANDing Field Guide and in particular, “A Collaborative Observation of a Site.” For his iteration, this observational score invokes a dreamlike state through a sound bath that opens a portal in a pineapple bun where time is nonlinear and anything is possible. The participant emerges back to the gallery and then back out to Canal Street to sleepwalk through Chinatown, mindfully documenting their observations through various means, and then returning to the gallery for further processing, sharing, and archiving. This evolving score becomes a type of research that acts as a performable activation of the space to reveal the intertwined elements of this site as recorded and remixed by our senses.

In addition to these activations, videos of Osprey Migration (2002) and Choreographies of Disaster (2020 -22) will be on view October 14 & 15, 1-2pm and 5-6pm and October 16, 1-2pm.
